The perfect suite of companion products for SoftVelocity’s Clarion Development Environment just got a lot better. Data Equity is pleased to announce three major product updates: Dictionary Assistant 2.0, Application Assistant 2.0 and Embed Assistant 2.0. Here are just a few of the major features found in the upgraded product suite.

• DA2 generates Business Intelligence from your Clarion Dictionary. Data elements can be queried, reported, exported and analyzed with sophisticated ease. Available elements include Tables, Columns, Indexes and Relationships. Properties of each of these elements are available in DA2’s underlying query and reporting system.
• Create deliverable Dictionary Documentation using the Dictionary Documentation Assistant.
• Run queries to satisfy quality control questions like: “Are all of my fields named DESC the same size?” or “Did I set all of my indexes to be CASE INSENSITIVE?”. The list of possibilities is endless!
• Your clients or IT customers will now be happier than ever with the new level of reporting capabilities in DA2. Producing an unlimited number of sophisticated custom data dictionary reports is now easier than ever.
• Save custom reports or built-in reports to a variety of formats including: PDF, XML and Text. Creating custom exports directly to Microsoft Excel no longer required third party ActiveX components as in DA1.
• One of the more interesting new features of DA2 is the ability to export your dictionary to Schema Definition Language (XSD) format for interoperability with other environments. XSD format is used by Visual Studio and other environments as a pseudo data dictionary.

• AA2 generates Business Intelligence from your Clarion Application. Data elements can be queried, reported, exported and analyzed with sophisticated ease. Available elements include Procedures, Windows, Reports, Controls, DCT Table usage, and Template usage. Just as in DA2, properties of each of these elements are available in AA2’s underlying query and reporting system.
• AA2 shares many of the same core features as DA2 including the same powerful reporting capabilities; (1) produce unlimited sophisticated custom application reports (2) save custom reports or built-in reports to a variety of formats including; PDF, XML and Text (3) create custom exports sent directly to Microsoft Excel. (4) print reports for things like tooltip text and help topic IDs.
• Run queries to satisfy quality control questions like: “Do I have any missing help ids on my windows (or controls)?” or “What are the tooltips for window my controls?”. The list of possibilities is endless.
• AA2 is tightly integrated with DA2 when it comes to comparing Applications with their respective Dictionaries. AA2’s powerful Exception Assistant will compare settings from dictionary fields with those same fields where they are used in the application to produce a very sophisticated exception report. This allows developers to quickly see what should be synchronized with the Dictionary without blindly running the dictionary sync.
• AA2’s integration with DA2 continues to impress with the Column Utilization report which provides a cross-reference between the Dictionary Columns and Application Controls.    

• EA2 extracts an application’s embed source into a normalized database for preservation, documentation, examination, analysis and retrieval.
• EA2 performs customized text searches against the embed database created by your application. Text searches can use wildcards, case sensitivity and whole word matching.
• Printing embedded code is accomplished using a variety of filter options: (1) all embeds (2) a specific embed (3) for a specific procedure (4) with a specific embed name (5) meeting the current text search.
• Save the embed report output to XML, PDF, HTML or text.

• Supports all modern versions of Clarion (4, 5, 5.5 and 6.x).
• If history repeats, all products should support Clarion 7 without an update. In the event an update is required, it will be free.
• Provides support for both ABC and Legacy template chains.
• Combine multiple Clarion applications into one AA2 or EA2 database.
